Years ago, I was about to meet a beloved patriarch in my husband's family, whom we call "popo". What he said changed my outlook on photography and documenting weddings.After our formal introductions, Popo looked me in the eye and said,
"Let me introduce you to my bride."
He walked over to the mantle in his home and took down a 72-year-old wedding photo of him and his beautiful wife. In their smiles, I saw a lifetime of joy, laughter, and an enduring legacy. Though I would never meet his beloved Edna in this lifetime, that photo welcomed me into their family. Through the legacy she left behind in photographs, I came to know and admire a mother, grandmother, and friend.
This is what photography is all about. Edna’s inviting spirit, immortalized through images, is what I think of every time I press the shutter and load the film. These are the moments that will connect you to your future generations. It’s an honor to capture the love and legacy of your life, knowing that these photographs will continue to tell your story for years to come.
